A Baby in the House. And Forts. :: Embrace the Ordinary (vol 19)

Having a baby in the house is a reminder of how joyful the simplest of things can be. Having a baby  in the house makes ordinary moments extraordinary.

My heart has been so full on the occasions when we've all been in the living room and have witnessed James wave goodbye and take a couple steps.  I felt like my heart would burst this morning when we all saw James walk from the coffee table to the chair and everyone erupted in cheers and praise.  He was a little shocked, but I was overwhelmed by how the smallest, simplest things can bring such joy to a family.  Joy is multiplied when the people we love share in it, in't it ?  I'm so happy and grateful to be sharing the commonplace experience of a baby "growing up" with my children (and said baby's siblings!). Because although it's commonplace and is happening at every moment everywhere, a baby growing up is always amazing, and it's never ordinary :)

In semi-related news... James lights up when I pull a blanket over us to make a fort.  It's just him and me and cozy fort time - so much to love in such a simple moment!

“…there is something holy, something divine hidden in
the most ordinary situations,
and it is up to each one of you to discover it.”
St. Josemaria Escriva, Passionately Loving the World

Head over to Someday (hopefully) They'll be Saints to visit with Gina and to read more stories (or to share your own!) about embracing the incredibly ordinary, sublimely beautiful moments of everyday life.

  1. Oh how true. I really do love sharing the joy of having a baby in the house with others. They are just so gosh darn cute as they start discovering the world and their abilities in it. The more kids I have, the more I cherish their time as a baby!

  2. It's so true!! It's almost more fun having a baby with lots of siblings, because the joy really is through the roof...and I find so much joy watching my older kids take delight in the baby's accomplishments.

  3. Beautiful! Pray that God will share another sweet little soul with our little family according to His Will so we can enjoy more sweet little baby cuteness! :) <3

Like the old song says, "comments are a girl's best friend." Or something like that... So... leave a comment! I love chatting here! Pretend you're on my back porch, kick the broken plastic sandbox toys aside, sip your iced coffee, or beer, or (__fill in the blank with your beverage of choice__) and let's talk about all the things, because back-porch blogging is what I do!
