Siblings: My Gift to Myself, My Gift to Them (another archives cheater post)

Happy Monday morning to you!

It's a happy Monday morning here, though I admit I'm unhappy about how inactive I've been here lately, so I'm trying to keep things looking lively with a few posts from the archives.  I know, it's cheating, but it's better than letting Ordinary Lovely go Ordinary MIA.  So... I really liked this post from last year and I really  like this back-to-school picture of the kiddos, so I'm combining them to bring you...

Siblings: My Gift to Myself, My Gift to Them

While I'm not posting a lot right now, I'll obviously be checking for comments and answering them because I'm so appreciative that you're good enough to keep up the conversation with me, even when I'm not in a position to gift you with new and exciting material :)  Thanks!  Catch you later in the week!

  1. What a great post. I especially love your point about being careful with media that potrays siblings in a negative light. I feel that my relationship with my siblings was negatively affected by reading books about sibling strife. I thought siblings were "supposed" to "not get along" and that little siblings are "annoying" . I'm so glad my kids don't think that about their siblings.

I also love your story about your son that has a soft spot for his baby sister. My son also has a real soft spot for his baby sister and I think she does bring out a certain part of him.

    1. Thanks, Amelia! I though of this comment today while my oldest was reading "The Boxcar Children" and I said to him one of my favorite things about the book was how they all took care of each other :) We need more books like this!

Like the old song says, "comments are a girl's best friend." Or something like that... So... leave a comment! I love chatting here! Pretend you're on my back porch, kick the broken plastic sandbox toys aside, sip your iced coffee, or beer, or (__fill in the blank with your beverage of choice__) and let's talk about all the things, because back-porch blogging is what I do!
